Welcome to Caye Custard
(formerly DandE’s Frozen Custard)

Caye Custard was started as DandE’s Frozen Custard by Dan and Eileen in August 2005. After 17 years Dan and Eileen have retired for real and we are proud to continue their beloved shop. We continue to run it as ever the small “mom and pop” shop it was started as. We serving delicious homemade Frozen Custard and Sorbet. We invite you to come and enjoy our free WiFi and air conditioning while you enjoy the only Frozen Custard on Ambergris Caye. We know you’ll love it so much you’ll ask for a pint or quart to take home.

Entering the door of this dessert emporium, visitors are often greeted by the tempted aroma of our homemade waffle cones. Caye Custard is endorsed by travel guide experts such as Lonely Planet, Fodors, Rough Guide and Trip Advisor to name a few.

We produce a variety of delicious flavors including the most popular Double Rich Chocolate; the tourist favorite Coconut (with shavings of real island coconut) and the local’s “fave” Soursop sweet with a fruity tang. In addition, ou refreshing sorbets are made with real fruit and natural flavors.

After a bit of lively conversation, Caye Custard customers can choose from a menu containing cones, thick, delicious milkshakes and smoothies, “Concretes” (a superior custard version of the “Blizzard)”, as well as mouth-watering Sundaes and Banana Boats – tasty treats not to be missed while on Ambergris Caye.

Discover the Frozen Custard Difference

Frozen Custard is made from a base mix consisting of whole milk, sugar and egg along with other ingredients and contains 10% butterfat. The addition of the egg yolk gives Frozen Custard it’s uniquely smooth texture and creaminess.

We import our base mix from multi-million dollar dairies in the United States. We do not use any canned or powdered milk in our base, as others do. Local ingredients and flavors are added the base to create the flavors you have come to love. The Caye Custard difference can be found in our machines as well as our product. Our machines have been adapted to reproduce the old-fashioned hand-cranked ice cream maker that Grandma had.

Hand-cranked ice cream is extremely creamy and dense because this process does not artificially “fluff-up” the ice cream by injecting air into it. With no air injected into our ice cream, one scoop of Caye Custard is equal to, by weight, two and one quarter scoops of regular ice cream.
